Illinois Basketball: Next Step After Final Four Loss

Illinois Fighting Illini head coach Brad Underwood is already strategizing for the upcoming season, aiming to build upon the program's recent Final Four appearance. He views the team's historic run, despite the sting of their loss to UConn, as a crucial stepping stone toward sustained national championship contention.

Underwood emphasized that Illinois has been the winningest program in the Big Ten over the past seven years, and reaching the Final Four has instilled a new attitude for players, coaches, and fans. He is committed to preventing complacency and believes he can continue to drive the program forward.

To that end, Illinois has scheduled a demanding nonconference slate. This includes a rematch against UConn in Chicago, a trip to Duke, and another game against Texas Tech. These matchups are designed to test the team and keep them focused on their ultimate goal of becoming the best in college basketball.
