Summary
- Hurricanes trade for Rangers' K'Andre Miller, sign him to 8-year, $60M deal
- Hurricanes sign Nikolaj Ehlers to 6-year, $51M contract from Winnipeg Jets
- Hurricanes GM Tulsky says team achieved goal of adding high-end talent

In the weeks leading up to the 2025-08-05 deadline, the Carolina Hurricanes have been extremely active in the offseason, making several high-profile moves to bolster their roster and position themselves as a top contender in the Eastern Conference.
On July 1, the Hurricanes acquired restricted free agent defenseman K'Andre Miller in a trade with the New York Rangers and signed him to an eight-year, $60 million contract. Just two days later, on July 3, the team landed perhaps the top player to hit the unrestricted free agent market, signing forward Nikolaj Ehlers to a six-year, $51 million deal.
"I would say our goal this summer was to bring in at least one high-end defenseman and one high-end forward and try and shore up those groups," Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said. "I feel like we did that."
These bold acquisitions signal the Hurricanes' intention to challenge the Florida Panthers, the repeat Stanley Cup champions who have reached the final in three straight seasons. The Hurricanes are looking to build on their own success, having reached the conference final last season despite losing several key players in the offseason.
