An unexpected incident involving a rugby ball has led to remarkable community generosity for Hull Minster. In February, a misdirected kick sent the ball soaring approximately 26ft, striking and breaking part of the church's historic west window. The damage was reportedly more severe than that sustained during World War Two bombings.
Heritage manager James Cameron stated that the necessary repairs for this window, along with other stained glass and windows throughout the church, are projected to cost £30,000. Responding to this challenge, the community has rallied significantly. A crowdfunding campaign has already amassed over £16,000, a substantial contribution towards the restoration goal. Cameron expressed his gratitude, noting the overwhelming and encouraging donations received, which have successfully raised half the required funds.
