HS Prannoy: 'My career can end any day, but I'm enjoying it'

Indian badminton player HS Prannoy, 33, is embracing the daily grind again, finding renewed enjoyment in his sport. After a difficult 2025 season where he exited early from 19 tournaments, Prannoy admits the latter half of the year felt 'toxic' due to inconsistent results and a lack of enjoyment. Despite these challenges, he is now focusing on the present and cherishing the opportunity to compete against younger players.

Looking ahead, Prannoy expressed uncertainty about his career duration, stating he doesn't know what will happen in the coming months and considers major events like the Asian Games and World Championship too distant to plan for. His current mindset is centered on enjoying his play and training, particularly after finding happiness in the process, which has helped him reconnect with badminton.

Despite an early exit at the Malaysia Open earlier this month, Prannoy reports his body is responding well as he begins the 2026 season. He emphasized the importance of commitment and avoiding future regrets, acknowledging that while his playing career is short, his dedication remains strong as he seeks to improve and achieve more in the sport.
