Thousands Conquer Houston Streets in Annual Marathon

The 2026 Chevron Houston Marathon saw thousands of runners embrace the city streets on Sunday, upholding a tradition that has blossomed into a premier sporting event. What began in 1972 with a modest participation of fewer than 200 individuals has transformed into a significant international gathering, now attracting more than 25,000 runners from across the globe.

Race activities commenced early Sunday morning, with the first wave of runners departing at 7 a.m., followed by the half marathon and then the full marathon field. The course offered a scenic journey through Houston's dynamic neighborhoods, commencing downtown and progressing through Midtown, Montrose, and The Heights before concluding near Discovery Green.
