The third annual Hockey Day in Houston concluded on March 21, 2026, setting an attendance record with over 6,000 visitors at the fan festival. Including additional events like the Hall of Fame Induction and youth tournaments, the weekend welcomed more than 7,000 people. This event marks a significant increase from its inaugural year in 2023, which drew 4,000 attendees.
The growing interest in hockey in Houston was further highlighted by the announcement that the North Iowa Bulls of the NAHL will relocate to the city, becoming the Houston Bulls for the 2026-27 season. They will play at the new Deep South Ice & Sports Center in Richmond, Texas.
This year's Hockey Day in Houston also successfully raised over $40,000 through sponsorships and donations. The Howe Foundation contributed a matching $25,000, bringing the total to over $65,000, which will be directed towards academic scholarships and local hockey organizations. The event saw notable attendance from NHL executives, former NHL and WHA players, and advocates for women's hockey, reflecting a broad and deepening engagement with the sport across the city.
