San Felipe Stars Prep for Santa Anita Derby Showdown

Robusta, So Happy, and Start the Ride have returned to their training routines following their participation in the San Felipe Stakes (G2) just two weeks ago. All three are now being pointed towards the prestigious Santa Anita Derby (G1), scheduled for April 4. Robusta, who finished a close second at long odds in the San Felipe, completed an easy four-furlong workout.
So Happy, trained by Mark Glatt, finished third in his first start around two turns in the San Felipe. He worked five furlongs with company under Hall of Famer Mike Smith and pleased his trainer, who confirmed his readiness for the Santa Anita Derby. Start the Ride, trained by Dan Blacker, finished sixth in the San Felipe after an earlier win in the California Chrome Cal Cup Derby. He worked four furlongs and is also slated for the Santa Anita Derby.
Trainers expressed satisfaction with the horses' recent workouts, indicating they are fit and moving in the right direction for the upcoming race. Nominations for the Santa Anita Derby are due to close on Sunday.
