Hornets and Magic Aim to Tighten Defense in Clash

As of October 31st, 2025, the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets are set to face off in a matchup of two teams looking to bounce back from recent defensive woes. Both squads are coming off lopsided defeats, with the Hornets falling 144-117 to the Miami Heat on Tuesday and the Magic suffering a 135-116 loss to the Detroit Pistons the following night.

Orlando coach Jamahl Mosley acknowledged the need for his team to "sit down and guard" better, as the Magic have now lost four straight games since winning their season opener. Charlotte's Charles Lee also noted the challenge of facing Orlando's "big, physical team" as the Hornets aim to tighten up their own defensive efforts.

One bright spot for Charlotte has been the play of rookie Kon Knueppel, who has made history by becoming the first player in NBA history to hit five or more 3-pointers in two of his first four career games. Knueppel's sharpshooting has provided a boost to the Hornets' offense.

Meanwhile, the Magic have been led by Paolo Banchero, the former Duke standout who has topped the team in scoring in four of their first five contests. Banchero also recorded a team-high seven assists in Orlando's most recent loss, showcasing his all-around game.

As these two struggling squads look to get back on track, Thursday's matchup could very well turn into an offensive showcase, with both teams aiming to tighten up their defenses and secure a much-needed victory.
