High School Football Players Praised for Rescuing Stray Dogs

As they were driving home from football practice, Vinny Harris, Cam Nicholson, and Desmond Baskerville noticed the dogs weaving through the vehicles on 82nd Street. Without hesitation, the teammates sprang into action, with Nicholson chasing the dogs and Harris and Baskerville jumping out of the car to assist.
"We ended up having to chase them because they were so nervous," Baskerville recounted. "We got them to one side of the street, then another side of the street, then they ran into the neighborhood and another guy came out with his dog and they followed."
Later that evening, a neighbor posted on the Nextdoor app, thanking the "brave Lawrence North football players" for ensuring the dogs' safety and preventing a potential accident. The three juniors, Nicholson, Harris, and Baskerville, said they simply did what they felt was the right thing to do in that moment.
"I feel like that's normal, it just might not be talked about enough," Baskerville said. "Nobody needs to be lost, so you might as well help out anyone and anything that you can."
