Harlequins Appoint Gilmore, Deans Joins as Director

Harlequins Rugby Union has officially appointed Jason Gilmore as its permanent head coach, a role he has held on an interim basis for the past six months. This significant move comes as the club also announces the recruitment of Robbie Deans, the former head coach of Australia, to the position of performance director, starting next season.

Additionally, Rob Hunter, formerly of Exeter Chiefs, has been appointed as the forwards coach. This experienced coaching trio is tasked with the critical objective of improving the team's performance. The club currently sits second from the bottom in the league standings, having recently suffered their sixth consecutive defeat.

Gilmore expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge, stating commitment to building the right environment, standards, and squad for future success. He highlighted the invaluable guidance expected from Deans, and emphasized the need for continued supporter backing to restore Harlequins to its former standing. The club also plans to hire an assistant defence coach.
