Keown: Barca Defense Needs Overhaul for UCL Title

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes Barcelona's current tactical setup, particularly their high defensive line under Hansi Flick, is insufficient for winning the Champions League. Keown observed that even opponents like Eintracht Frankfurt created dangerous chances during a recent match, indicating a vulnerability that could be exploited in deeper stages of the competition.

Keown emphasized that while Barcelona possesses immense attacking talent, their defensive structure requires significant reinforcement. He argued that a team must exhibit better balance to lift the Champions League, suggesting that Barcelona's current approach appears to be a gamble rather than a solid strategy. The club has not won the tournament since 2015.

Robbie Savage echoed these sentiments, noting that while Barcelona has the quality to beat anyone on their day, their high defensive press makes them susceptible to teams with pace. He expressed doubt about their chances of winning the Champions League this season, citing their semi-final exit last season as evidence of their limitations.
