Hamilton's New Voice: Ferrari Shake-Up Ahead of 2026
19 Jan
Summary
- Ferrari replaced Lewis Hamilton's race engineer, Riccardo Adami, for the 2026 season.
- Performance engineer Luca Diella is the leading candidate to take over the role.
- The team is launching its 2026 car livery on January 23rd, with pre-season testing starting soon.

Ferrari has announced a significant change in Lewis Hamilton's support team, removing Riccardo Adami as his race engineer just prior to the unveiling of the team's 2026 car. Adami has been reassigned to roles within Ferrari's Driver Academy and their TPC program. This strategic move follows a debut year for Hamilton at Ferrari marked by communication challenges heard over team radio.
Luca Diella, who currently serves as Hamilton's performance engineer, is widely considered the leading candidate to step into the race engineer position. Diella previously worked with Hamilton at Mercedes and joined Ferrari in 2025. His potential promotion mirrors a similar engineer change for teammate Charles Leclerc earlier in the 2024 season.
Ferrari is set to reveal its 2026 car livery on January 23rd, with pre-season testing commencing next week in Barcelona. The season officially kicks off with the Australian Grand Prix on March 8th. A move for former Mercedes race engineer Peter Bonnington is considered highly unlikely due to his current role at Mercedes.
