Hamilton was surprised by his performance, noting that despite an upgrade, the team had anticipated being four tenths off the pace. After congratulating his former teammate George Russell on securing pole position, Hamilton conveyed his readiness to compete, stating they are in a strong position for the race. This positions the 41-year-old driver to potentially achieve his 106th career victory today.
