Florida State's offensive coordinator, Gus Malzahn, has retired from coaching, concluding a 35-year career in the sport. The announcement was made on Monday by the 60-year-old coach.
Malzahn's coaching tenure included head coaching roles at UCF from 2021 to 2024, Auburn from 2013 to 2020, and Arkansas State in 2012. He also achieved a significant milestone as Auburn's offensive coordinator, winning the national championship in 2010.
In a statement, Malzahn shared his eagerness to transition to a new life phase, focusing on family time. Coach Mike Norvell has since appointed co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. as the Seminoles' new offensive coordinator.
Florida State's offense demonstrated strong performance in 2025, leading the Atlantic Coast Conference in total and rushing offense. The team recorded nine games with over 400 yards, including two consecutive games exceeding 700 yards, a first in school history.
