GT Dominates KKR: A Developing IPL Rivalry
16 May
Summary
- GT has won three of five IPL matches against KKR.
- GT has a strong record at KKR's home ground, Eden Gardens.
- KKR is yet to defeat GT at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Gujarat Titans (GT) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have developed an intriguing rivalry in the Indian Premier League. Despite KKR's established presence and three titles, GT has largely outperformed them in their head-to-head matches. The two teams have faced each other in five IPL encounters, with GT emerging victorious in three of these contests.
GT has shown particular strength at Eden Gardens, KKR's home ground, securing wins in both previous matches played there. In Ahmedabad, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the record is more balanced, with each team having one win and one match ending in a tie. However, KKR is still seeking its first victory against GT at this venue.
The inaugural match between GT and KKR took place on an unspecified date in IPL 2022 at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where GT won by eight runs. More recently, in IPL 2026, GT secured a five-wicket victory on April 17th, and on April 21st, GT defeated KKR by 39 runs. An IPL 2024 match between the two teams on May 13th was abandoned due to weather.
