Grasso's Scary Submission Ends Fight in First Round

Alexa Grasso secured a crucial first-round submission victory against Maycee Barber in Seattle, marking her return to the win column. The fight concluded dramatically when Grasso landed a precise left hand, quickly followed by a rear-naked choke that rendered Barber unconscious for a notable duration. This concerning finish drew immediate attention from officials and the audience, with Grasso waiting patiently as Barber received medical attention.

Fortunately, Maycee Barber eventually regained consciousness and was able to leave the Octagon on her own, albeit with assistance. Her resilience is particularly noteworthy given her recent health struggles, including a fight cancellation due to seizures last year and a nine-day hospital stay earlier in 2024 for pneumonia, strep throat, and a staph infection. Grasso, who was previously on a three-fight winless streak, expressed relief and excitement for her future title prospects following Barber's recovery.
