Grantham Pool Closure for Summer Upgrades
13 May
Summary
- Grantham Meres Leisure Centre pool will close for summer improvements.
- Over £300,000 is allocated for changing room upgrades across facilities.
- The closure is necessary to ensure user safety during renovations.

The pool at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre is scheduled for closure this summer to facilitate significant improvement works. This necessary closure is part of a broader £300,000 investment by South Kesteven District Council to upgrade changing rooms at three leisure centres and one sports stadium.
Councillor Paul Stokes confirmed the closure at Grantham Meres is unavoidable due to the facility's layout, despite efforts to minimize disruption. The summer term is expected to be affected, potentially impacting swimming lessons. Officials emphasized that user safety is paramount, requiring the temporary closure to mitigate risks associated with wet users navigating construction areas.
The comprehensive refurbishment is a two-phase scheme totaling £1 million, focusing on modernizing equipment and changing facilities. Phase one alone dedicates £92,962 to the Grantham site. Separately, a £4 million renewable energy project at the Grantham site was recently completed.
