Shortstop Grady Emerson, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2026 MLB Draft, is making his professional debut with the Single-A Charleston RiverDogs. Emerson, the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year, will wear No. 21.
He joins a stacked Charleston roster that includes several other highly-rated prospects within the Tampa Bay organization. Among them are Cooper Flemming (No. 5), Taitn Gray (No. 6), Daniel Pierce (No. 13), and Slater de Brun (No. 14). Andreimi Antunez (No. 19) and Dean Moss also add to the team's talent.
Manager Danny Mendick will oversee this collection of talent, facing the interesting challenge of distributing playing time, particularly among the shortstops Emerson, Pierce, and Antunez. Emerson is already the Rays' top-ranked prospect and is considered the No. 10 prospect in all of baseball.
