On November 15, 2025, golfer Justin Thomas underwent a successful microdiscectomy surgery to address a disc problem that had been causing him hip pain for several months. The procedure was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Prior to the surgery, former PGAT winner Smylie Kaufman had made a post on X, mentioning how an injury update was inevitable for an athlete like Thomas, who had done an incredible job staying injury-free up to that point in his career. Kaufman expressed happiness that the surgery was successful and expected Thomas to return to the game soon.
Thomas last competed at the Procore Championship in 2025, where he finished 69th with a total score of 1 over par. Before that, he had a top-10 finish at the Tour Championship, tying for 7th place with a total score of 13 under par. In his own words, Thomas shared that he would be in rehabilitation for some time, but his team would help him improve. Thomas stated that he would miss some events in the beginning of 2026, but his goal was to return to the game injury-free and continue playing at a high level for a long time.
