16 Jun
Summary
- Giants are exploring potential trades for several players.
- Ace pitcher Logan Webb is not being considered for trade.
- Team is 16 games back in NL West and nine games back in Wild Card.
The San Francisco Giants are actively exploring potential trade scenarios as MLB's August 3rd deadline approaches. Reports indicate the team is "putting out feelers" on various players, signaling openness to deals.
However, a key exception to this trade-centric approach is ace right-hander Logan Webb. Sources confirm the Giants have "zero plans" to part with their star pitcher, who is under contract until 2028.
With a current record of 29-43, the Giants are a considerable 16 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West and nine games out of the Wild Card spot. This puts the organization in a position where the current season is likely a lost cause.
Keeping Webb, a two-time All-Star with a 3.46 ERA this season, aligns with a strategy for future success. His contract through 2028, with reasonable salaries in the final two years, makes him a valuable asset for the organization's long-term vision.
