The incident occurred as Jaxson Dart, making his first NFL start for the Chargers, launched a deep pass down the right sideline. Nabers, who had earlier caught Dart's first NFL completion, went up to try and make the catch, but his right leg appeared to buckle as he jumped. Nabers immediately grabbed at his leg and was clearly in pain as trainers rushed to attend to him.
Several of Nabers' Giants teammates, including benched quarterback Russell Wilson, gathered around the injured player before he was lifted onto a cart. As the cart sped away, Nabers raised his right arm to acknowledge the cheering Giants fans, but the severity of his injury remains unknown.

In addition to Nabers' concerning injury, the game also saw Chargers left tackle Joe Halt carted off the field with an ankle injury in the first quarter. Giants safety Jevon Holland also left the game in the second quarter with a neck injury.
