Winston Shines as Giants Rest Top QB in Preseason

Jameis Winston proved to be a capable backup for the Giants during their preseason matchup against the Dolphins. He took the starting snaps in place of Jaxson Dart, who the team opted to rest. Winston immediately made an impact, leading an opening-drive touchdown with an 11-yard scramble and maintaining a strong performance throughout the first half. His connections with veteran receiver Darius Slayton, including two completions and a 29-yard slant, and a 12-yard gain from Odell Beckham Jr., highlighted his effective playmaking.

This decision to rest key quarterbacks extended to the Dolphins as well, with their expected starter, Malik Willis, also sitting out. Instead, Cam Miller saw action for Miami. Quarterback Jaxson Dart had previously shown promise, notably in joint practices with the Dolphins and in his prior preseason game against the Vikings. Despite taking a hard hit that prompted a concussion check, Dart returned to throw a touchdown pass and accumulate 125 yards on four attempts. The Giants appear confident in their quarterback depth heading into the regular season.
