Summary
- Gerrard believes Trent Alexander-Arnold improves Liverpool's squad.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold struggles for regular starts at Real Madrid.
- Real Madrid manager is reluctant to sanction Alexander-Arnold's departure.
Steven Gerrard has voiced his thoughts on Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially returning to Liverpool. Gerrard confirmed that, based on pure ability and talent, Alexander-Arnold would undoubtedly improve the current Liverpool squad.
However, Gerrard also raised concerns about the appropriateness of such a move for the club, manager, and fans at this specific juncture. The circumstances surrounding Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid in 2025 have been described as 'raw' and 'tough,' casting a shadow over a potential reunion.
Alexander-Arnold, now 28, has struggled to secure a consistent starting position since his move to Spain. Recent reports suggested Liverpool were considering a loan move for him in the upcoming January transfer window.
Despite these rumors, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly hesitant to allow Alexander-Arnold to leave mid-campaign. The club's acquisition of Denzel Dumfries and the continued presence of Federico Valverde in the right-back role further complicate Alexander-Arnold's playing time situation.
