The Georgia women's basketball program is undergoing a significant transformation with the arrival of head coach Ayla Guzzardo. As the fourth head coach in the program's history, Guzzardo has made swift moves to assemble her coaching staff and bolster the roster.
She has hired four new assistant coaches: Kenneth Lee, Jr., Justin Payne, Ronneka Robertson, and Amber Gregg. Lee and Payne have been appointed associate head coaches, with Lee serving as defensive coordinator and Payne as offensive coordinator. Robertson and Gregg will also act as recruiting coordinators.
In addition to the coaching staff, Guzzardo has recruited four players via the transfer portal, adding new talent to the team. This influx of new personnel, particularly the four assistant coaches, signals a fresh start for the Bulldogs.
Salary information released indicates Guzzardo's annual pay is $600,000. Lee will earn $245,000, Gregg $180,000, and Robertson $125,000. This marks a notable decrease from the previous staff's compensation, which included head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson at $1.03 million annually.
Several members of the new staff have a history with Guzzardo. Lee and Robertson previously worked with her at Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State, where they achieved considerable success, including multiple conference championships and an NCAA Tournament berth. Payne joins from Nicholls State, and Gregg from UTSA.
Bri Patton and Megan Herboth are the only two members retained from the previous coaching staff.
