Georgia AG Urges SEC to Punish LSU

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has officially entered the controversy surrounding LSU's plans to roster players who have signed professional contracts. Carr is advocating for the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to take all available measures, including potentially expelling LSU from the conference, if the university proceeds with its intentions.

This stance comes as LSU, under head coach Lane Kiffin, aims to add at least three players, including former Ole Miss athletes Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who have already signed professional deals this past summer. Such a move would typically violate both NCAA and SEC regulations that prohibit players from joining a conference team after signing professionally and restrict intra-conference transfers outside the designated portal window.

However, a recent ruling by a Baton Rouge judge has temporarily halted the enforcement of these specific NCAA and SEC rules regarding player eligibility and transfers. The SEC has indicated it will comply with this court order, seemingly clearing a path for LSU to add these athletes. Nevertheless, the pushback from other conference members and officials, like AG Carr, remains intense.

High-ranking SEC officials are reportedly exploring 'extreme measures' in response to LSU's plans, with expulsion being a discussed option. These discussions highlight serious internal debate within the conference regarding the integrity of college sports and the adherence to established rules, with some officials stating, 'Enough is enough.'
