Hoyas Seek Decade's First Sweep of Bulldogs
18 Feb
Summary
- Georgetown aims for first season sweep of Butler in over 10 years.
- Butler's Finley Bizjack is out with a wrist injury.
- Both teams are closely grouped in the Big East standings.

Georgetown will host Butler on Wednesday night, with the Hoyas looking to achieve their first season sweep of the Bulldogs in more than a decade. The Hoyas secured a 77-64 victory in their previous encounter on January 31st in Indianapolis. This win marked a significant step towards their goal, as Georgetown last swept Butler in 2014 and 2015.
Currently, both Georgetown (13-12, 5-9 Big East) and Butler (13-13, 4-11) are part of a tight pack of six Big East teams vying for positions 6 through 11 in the conference standings. Despite recent losses, Hoyas coach Ed Cooley expressed confidence in the Big East's overall strength.
The Bulldogs, initially showing promise with nonconference wins, have since endured a six-game losing streak. Adding to their struggles, Finley Bizjack, the conference's second-leading scorer, missed their recent game due to a wrist injury, casting doubt on his availability.
If Bizjack remains sidelined, increased responsibility will fall upon Michael Ajayi, who leads the conference in rebounds per game and ranks seventh in scoring. Butler's history at Georgetown shows a 8-4 record in favor of the visiting team, despite clinching a losing record in the Big East for the sixth consecutive season.
