As of October 29, 2026, Geno Smith is characterizing his upcoming matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, his former team, as merely "another game." This assertion comes despite a history of contentious interactions with the Raiders organization and its fanbase. During his tenure in Las Vegas, Smith was observed flipping off Raiders fans, an incident for which he later apologized, though his sincerity was questioned.
Furthermore, shortly after his trade from the Raiders to the New York Jets, Smith publicly expressed immense gratitude, tweeting "God is the GREATEST. THANK U LORD." This reaction suggested a strong desire to leave Las Vegas. His current dismissive attitude towards facing his former team is viewed by many as a disingenuous attempt to manage perceptions, rather than a genuine reflection of his feelings.
