Former India player Sunil Gavaskar has praised Anshul Kamboj's impressive bowling performance in the recent first ODI against New Zealand. Kamboj delivered an economical spell of 2 wickets for 22 runs in 10 overs, contributing to New Zealand's dismissal for 185. This performance was particularly noted for Kamboj's increased pace, reportedly bowling over 135 kph, a significant jump from his previous speed of 127-130 kph during his Test debut last year.
Gavaskar highlighted Kamboj's improved fitness and his immaculate line and length, focusing deliveries on the off-stump. This disciplined bowling, coupled with the seamer-friendly conditions in Auckland, made it difficult for the batters to score freely or play on the rise. Kamboj's spell, which included dismissing key players Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith, created pressure that benefited other Indian bowlers.
