Gattuso Silences Critics with Unbeaten Lazio Start

Gennaro Gattuso, who led Italy to a World Cup qualification failure six months ago, is now making waves in Serie A with Lazio. He is currently enjoying an unbeaten start to the season, silencing critics who focused on his past persona rather than his coaching abilities. Gattuso, famed for his tenacity as a player, is demonstrating an attacking tactical approach that has seen Lazio exceed expectations.

The Roman club, which finished ninth last season, has been transformed under Gattuso's guidance. Lazio currently sits level with league leaders Roma and Inter Milan. Despite a fan boycott targeting club owner Claudio Lotito, the team has only dropped points once, in a draw against Milan. Key contributors include attacking midfielder Davide Frattesi, who has scored three goals, and winger Mattia Zaccagni. Gattuso has also praised defender Nuno Tavares, suggesting he is 'worthy of playing for Real Madrid.'

Goalkeeper Christos Mandas has also been instrumental, securing three clean sheets and saving a crucial penalty. Gattuso's strategic decisions extend to team building, as he opted for forwards Andrea Pinamonti and Albert Gudmundsson over potentially signing Mauro Icardi. This focus on the current squad's potential is yielding results, with many players who struggled previously now making a significant impact.
