- Defensive end L.J. McCray and cornerback Cormani McClain have made significant strength gains

The Florida Gators football team is gearing up for the upcoming season with a roster that has grown deeper and more competitive over the past four recruiting cycles under head coach Billy Napier.
As the Gators prepare to grind through 17 practices over the next three-plus weeks, several players are poised to prove they can be trusted for more time on the field in 2025. Coach Napier emphasized the importance of player retention, noting that the team has many players in their second, third, and fourth years in the program.
Two players who have made significant strides during the offseason are defensive end L.J. McCray and cornerback Cormani McClain. McCray, a true freshman last season, has added 40 pounds to his frame and is now a formidable 6-foot-6, 268-pound pass rusher. McClain, a transfer from Colorado, has bulked up from 165 pounds to 189 pounds, which should improve his physicality and tackling ability.
With the Gators' season opener against Long Island University on August 30th, coach Napier is confident in the team's progress, stating, "We've had a good off season, and we've got a good roster coming back, but now it's time to go perform."
