Summary

- Autopsy showed significant liver and heart conditions.
- His liver weighed nearly 9.2 lbs, heart weighed 450 grams.

Late Angels great Garret Anderson died on April 16 from acute necrotizing pancreatitis. According to the local coroner, Anderson was also dealing with multiple other medical conditions at the time of his passing. Autopsy results indicated significant issues with both his liver and heart.
Specifically, the coroner discovered that Anderson suffered from severe hepatic steatosis, an advanced stage of fatty liver disease. His liver weighed nearly 9.2 lbs, substantially larger than a normal adult male liver. He also had hypertensive-type cardiovascular disease and Cardiomegaly, an enlarged heart weighing 450 grams.
Further examination revealed thickening in his left ventricle, suggesting long-standing high blood pressure. Despite the severity of these underlying conditions, the acute pancreatitis was confirmed as the primary cause of his death. Anderson was pronounced deceased at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach.
