Fury-Joshua Fight Back on Brink of Collapse?
26 Sep
Summary
- Negotiations for Fury-Joshua superfight hit a snag over location.
- Netflix announced the bout for December 11th in Cardiff, Wales.
- UFC CEO Dana White's involvement has reignited dispute and jeopardized the fight.
The planned heavyweight superfight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, anticipated throughout 2026, is once again facing cancellation. Initially, negotiations stalled over the fight's location, but an announcement earlier this week by Netflix for a December 11th bout at Cardiff's Principality Stadium seemed to resolve the issue.
However, this resolution proved short-lived. A conflict has arisen regarding the involvement of UFC CEO Dana White. Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, insist that White must not be part of the event, a contractual stipulation they aim to enforce. Conversely, Turki Alalshikh, who is funding the fight and is a co-founder of White's Zuffa Boxing, insists on White's participation.
This disagreement has intensified, with Tyson Fury taking to social media to criticize Joshua and Hearn for the ongoing setbacks. As of now, the fight remains scheduled for December, but Alalshikh is reportedly exploring alternative options should the bout ultimately fall through. Neither Joshua nor Hearn have publicly responded to the recent reports or Fury's comments.
