Fulham has reached agreements to acquire Gonzalo Garcia for €40 million and Cesar Palacios for €10 million from Real Madrid. These deals include a 30 percent sell-on clause for each player.
Both Garcia and Palacios are expected to join Fulham under head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, having previously been coached by him in Real Madrid's youth academy. This move aligns with their desire to play in the Premier League.
Fulham's decision to pursue these signings comes after losing significant attacking players Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez, whose contracts expired over the summer.
Gonzalo Garcia, a 22-year-old striker, made 39 appearances for Real Madrid's first team last season, scoring eight goals. He also secured the Golden Boot at last summer's Club World Cup. Cesar Palacios, a 21-year-old attacking midfielder, featured seven times for Real Madrid's senior squad last season.
These potential transfers are happening as Real Madrid Castilla's failure to gain promotion to the Spanish second tier has prompted several academy players to seek senior playing time elsewhere. Although new head coach Mourinho was keen to assess Garcia in pre-season, a guaranteed prominent role was not forthcoming.
Arbeloa recently signed a three-year contract with Fulham, replacing Marco Silva.
