Diagnosed in September 2021, Rachel's cancer proved incurable and recurred twice in 2023. She pursued extensive treatment, including seeking care in India after prior treatment in Germany. Her battle was documented on her Instagram page, inspiring many.

Her unwavering motivation was her two children, whom she fiercely loved. A GoFundMe campaign amassed over £150,000, supporting alternative treatments and alleviating financial pressures during her illness. Carey is currently on loan at Dunfermline from Livingston and has missed recent games to be with his family.
