A planned Isthmian League fixture between Potters Bar Town FC and Welling United was called off unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon. The abandonment occurred approximately 40 minutes before the scheduled 3pm kick-off due to a serious incident involving a member of the Potters Bar management team.
Police were called to Welling's Park View Road ground following reports of an altercation. Officers discovered a 38-year-old man with facial injuries. A 42-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody as investigations continue.
Potters Bar Town confirmed their manager, Sammy Moore, is receiving appropriate medical care and the club is offering full support. The incident has been reported to the league and The FA. Welling United confirmed the postponement and stated further information regarding a rearranged fixture would follow.
