Since the Olympic break, the Flyers have a 14-6-1 record, highlighting their significant improvement. Coach Rick Tocchet emphasizes focusing on immediate tasks rather than dwelling on their successful chase of opponents.

Recently acquired rookie Porter Martone, the sixth overall pick from last year's draft, has made an immediate impact. He contributed an assist and scored the overtime-winning goal in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Boston Bruins, marking his first NHL goal. Coach Tocchet praised Martone's maturity and hockey sense.

Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils, who are one of the teams trying to catch up, are seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 83 points. Their playoff aspirations are looking increasingly unlikely, needing considerable help in the final two weeks.

The Devils have alternated wins and losses in their last six games, with a 3-2-1 record. They recently defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-0. Coach Sheldon Keefe noted the team's positive energy and determination despite their challenging playoff outlook.

Jack Hughes has been a standout performer for the Devils since late February, accumulating 36 points in 20 games. He was recently named the NHL's Second Star of the Week for his exceptional play, recording three goals and six assists in four games.
