Flyers Target: High-Skill Winger Amidst Draft Day Uncertainty

The Flyers are preparing for the 2026 NHL draft, scheduled for June 26-27, with their first-round selection at 21st overall, the team's lowest position in years. General Manager Danny Briere reiterated the club's commitment to building a sustainable team for the long haul, not just short-term success.

One player drawing attention is Elton Hermansson, an 18-year-old winger from Sweden. Hermansson showcased impressive offensive production, including a strong performance at the U-18 World Junior Championship where he helped Sweden win gold. Scouts highlight his finesse and playmaking ability.

Despite his offensive upside, concerns about Hermansson's work ethic and defensive play are noted. Analysts suggest he needs to improve his 'B game' and competitiveness without the puck to become a more complete NHL player. His draft stock varies among scouts, with some ranking him highly and others lower.

The Flyers will evaluate whether Hermansson's scoring talent aligns with their needs at pick 21, considering the questions surrounding his overall game and potential for driving play consistently.
