On October 9, 2025, Florida State linebacker Ethan Pritchard was released from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, five and a half weeks after being shot near the city. Pritchard has now moved to Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida, to continue his recovery.
The incident occurred a day after Florida State's season-opening win over Alabama, and appears to have been a case of mistaken identity. Four people, including one juvenile, have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Pritchard's father, Earl, expressed his thankfulness for the prayers and support the family has received during this challenging time. He noted that Coach Mike Norvell has been a constant presence, visiting the hospital daily and ensuring Pritchard and his family feel part of the Seminoles team.
The medical teams at the hospital, nearby clinics, and Florida State's sports medicine staff have all played a crucial role in Pritchard's recovery. While he still has a long journey ahead, Earl Pritchard is grateful for the outpouring of support from the FSU and Seminole County communities.
