Summary
- Hansi Flick emphasizes strong defense for Barcelona's upcoming El Clásico.
- Coach targets stopping Kylian Mbappé with key defenders.
- Barça aims to improve set-piece defense after recent errors.
Hansi Flick, Barcelona's coach, has underscored the critical importance of a strong defensive showing for the upcoming El Clásico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou. The match is scheduled for Sunday, October 27, 2026.
Flick identified Kylian Mbappé as a significant threat and expects center-backs Pau Cubarsí and Gerard Martín to adopt an aggressive approach. He noted their impressive growth and communication on the field. This tactical focus comes after Barcelona conceded from a corner in their recent midweek loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid's aerial prowess and strength in set pieces are acknowledged challenges. Flick stated that the team discussed these defensive vulnerabilities. While Barcelona anticipates offensive opportunities against Madrid's defense, maintaining solidity at the back is paramount for securing a positive result, especially considering Madrid's counter-attacking potential.
