Flat Rock's Quarterback Factory Rolls On

Flat Rock High School is emerging as a significant talent pool for quarterbacks in Michigan high school football. This trend follows the success of Graham Junge, who set passing records for the school and the Monroe County Region. Last season, junior quarterback Joel Scully seamlessly took over, leading the region with 1,668 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, even while missing games due to injury.

With Junge's departure, many expected a drop-off, but Scully's performance defied those expectations. As the 2026 training camp opens, Scully is poised for his senior season, with coach Buck Reaume calling him the team's "main piece" who "makes us go." Scully is also mentoring his backup, Chase Elswick, to continue the Rams' quarterback legacy.

The Flat Rock Rams have a history of success, accumulating 33 wins over the past four years and reaching the state semifinals in back-to-back seasons. Despite losing top receiver Evan Szalay, the team boasts returning talent, including senior running back Blake Recore and experienced offensive linemen Colin Booms, Noah Nehila, and Gabe Sanchez. The team, comprising 15 seniors, is ready to face the pressure of continuing their winning trajectory.
