Fifa Accused of Ticket Price Gouging
24 Mar
Summary
- Fans demand Fifa abandon dynamic pricing for World Cup tickets.
- Fifa accused of exploiting monopoly for excessive ticket prices.
- Complaints allege 'bait advertising' and opaque purchasing conditions.

The Football Supporters Europe (FSE) has urged Fifa to abandon its dynamic pricing strategy for the 2026 World Cup ticket release in April. They also called for greater transparency, including a 48-hour notice for ticket availability by category and seat location.
FSE, alongside Euroconsumers, has filed a complaint with the European Commission, alleging that Fifa has exploited its monopoly position. The complaint details six specific abuses, including 'bait advertising' where advertised cheaper tickets are allegedly scarce and not genuinely available.
Fifa has made nearly seven million tickets available for the tournament, co-hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico. Attending eight matches could cost up to £12,350, a significant increase compared to the 2022 World Cup's £3,914 for seven games.
