FIFA hails Zee TV's football push in India

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed his gratitude to Zee TV for their extensive efforts in promoting football throughout India. He specifically commended the broadcaster for transforming football into a continuous narrative, rather than an event that occurs solely every four years. This is achieved through comprehensive coverage of numerous FIFA tournaments.

Infantino highlighted the partnership with Zee TV, which encompasses 39 FIFA competitions, including the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 and various youth and futsal tournaments. He acknowledged India's immense passion and potential for football, referencing record-breaking attendances at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017 and the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup five years later.

Furthermore, Infantino noted the presence of players with Indian heritage in the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the significant number of Indian supporters among the global fan base. He also praised Zee TV's innovative approach of organizing communal screenings in cinemas, pubs, restaurants, and hotels, which creates a shared experience for fans across the nation.
