Penix Jr. Poised for Falcons Return Thursday

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is reportedly nearing a return to action, with a potential season debut scheduled for Thursday against the Green Bay Packers. Penix Jr. has been out of play since suffering an ACL tear in his left knee on November 16. He has been inactive for Sunday's game, but sources indicate readiness for the Week 3 matchup. The Falcons may also see the return of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who missed Week 1 due to an oblique injury and was inactive for Sunday's contest. Tagovailoa is also anticipated to be available for Thursday's game against Green Bay. Currently, Cooper Rush and Jack Strand are the active quarterbacks for the Falcons. Rush, who started Week 1, recorded 143 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in a loss. Strand, a rookie, has yet to make his NFL debut.
