Falcons QB Job: Tagovailoa Faces Penix Jr. Challenge
16 Mar
Summary
- Tagovailoa may not be Atlanta's undisputed starting quarterback.
- Penix Jr. is viewed as the starter once healthy, with Tagovailoa as backup.
- Both quarterbacks are left-handed, simplifying operational adjustments.
The Atlanta Falcons' quarterback depth chart presents a compelling competition, particularly between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa. Reports suggest that Penix Jr. is considered the intended starter once he fully recovers from his season-ending knee injury.
Tagovailoa was brought in to provide coverage in the event Penix Jr. is not ready to take the field. Both quarterbacks are left-handed, a similarity that could ease operational dynamics within the team.
The decision to acquire Tagovailoa and release Kirk Cousins marks a significant shift for the Falcons' quarterback room. Tagovailoa, having had a less than ideal end to his time with the Dolphins, will seek to prove his capabilities again in Atlanta.
