Falcons' Kicker Woes Continue: Folk Struggles Despite Elite Status
8 Nov
Summary
- Veteran kicker Nick Folk has struggled in his initial games with the Falcons.
- Folk has missed four field goals and an extra point in eight games this season.
- Special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman supports Folk, emphasizing confidence and moving forward.
The Atlanta Falcons have endured two seasons of kicking inconsistency, recently signing veteran Nick Folk, previously known as the NFL's most accurate kicker. However, Folk has encountered difficulties, converting 12 of 16 field goal attempts and missing an extra point through eight games. This contrasts sharply with his prior three seasons, where he missed only one field goal each year. The team previously cycled through three kickers in 2025, who combined for an 82% success rate. Despite these struggles, special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman expressed confidence in Folk, citing external factors like weather and the importance of player confidence. Aukerman, who previously coached Folk in Tennessee, aims to leverage their existing working relationship to restore stability to the Falcons' special teams unit.
