Summary
- Everton is vying for European football next season.
- David Moyes is praised for building a "special" team.
- The team's recent home win boosts European aspirations.
Everton is currently enjoying a period of significant success under manager David Moyes, with aspirations of securing European football for the upcoming season. This turnaround marks a departure from recent campaigns where the club battled against relegation.
Having secured their first home victory of 2026 on Tuesday, Everton now sits in eighth place. This position, dependent on other results, could be sufficient for European qualification. Former striker Jermaine Beckford lauded Moyes's coaching, describing the current Everton setup as "really, really special."
Beckford attributed this success to Moyes's focus on disciplined, hardworking players who also possess technical skill. He noted the team's impressive performance against Burnley, contrasting it with previous home games where results didn't match their good play. The team is reportedly energized by rivals' slip-ups, seeing a clear path to closing the five-point gap to a European qualification spot.
