Evanescence continued her undefeated streak at Keeneland on Saturday, capturing the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes by a half-length. Jockey Jose Ortiz guided the Munnings filly to victory in 1:16.57 over 6 1/2 furlongs on the fast track. This win secured her a spot in the upcoming Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.
The victory highlights Evanescence's exceptional consistency, having never placed lower than third in her 11 career starts. Trainer Eddie Kenneally praised the filly's strength and dedication to racing, noting her continuous improvement.
Kenneally believes the Breeders' Cup, scheduled for October 31 at Keeneland, is an ideal next step for Evanescence. He indicated that the seven-furlong distance of the Filly & Mare Sprint could suit her even better than Saturday's race.
Evanescence's affinity for Keeneland began in April 2025 with an allowance win. She added another victory at the same distance in April of this year, bringing her total to three wins from three starts at the Lexington track.
