Eugenio Suárez has signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds, valued at $15 million, with a mutual option for the 2027 season. This agreement reunites the power-hitting third baseman with the franchise where he played from 2015 to 2021.
Suárez, who was a prominent free agent bat, is expected to primarily fill the designated hitter role. In the 2025 season, he earned his second All-Star selection, hitting 49 home runs and driving in 118 runs. He spent most of that season with the Diamondbacks, posting strong numbers before a trade to the Mariners.
After struggling with Seattle, Suárez returns to Cincinnati hoping for renewed consistency. During his previous tenure with the Reds from 2018 to 2019, he demonstrated significant power, hitting 83 home runs and driving in 207 runs. His addition is expected to provide much-needed punch to a Reds lineup that features dynamic bats like Elly De La Cruz.
