ESPN Secures Lucrative NFL Media Deal Ahead of Streaming Launch
1 Aug
Summary
- ESPN agrees to deal for NFL RedZone, NFL Network, and more
- Deal potentially worth billions in equity for ESPN
- New content to be integrated into ESPN's upcoming direct-to-consumer product

According to a report from The Athletic, ESPN has reached a landmark agreement with the NFL that will grant the network access to some of the league's top media assets. The deal, which is expected to be officially announced next week, will see ESPN gain the rights to NFL RedZone, NFL Network, and seven additional regular-season games.
In exchange, ESPN will provide the NFL with an equity stake in the worldwide leader that is "potentially worth billions." The agreement will also allow ESPN to integrate special features, including potential betting integrations, into its upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming product.
While the deal still requires regulatory approval, which could take up to a year, it is expected to be in place by the start of the 2026 NFL season. This would be a fitting start to the season, as ESPN is also set to host its first-ever Super Bowl that year.
