Summary

- He considered offers from numerous top European clubs.
- Arsenal must now agree a training compensation fee with Spurs.

Elijah Upson, son of former Arsenal defender Matthew Upson, has reportedly chosen to join the Gunners, concluding his time with Tottenham Hotspur this summer. Upson Jr. rejected a contract extension with Spurs, opting instead for a move to Arsenal. This decision follows in the footsteps of his father, who also played for Arsenal.
Before committing to Arsenal, Upson fielded offers from several prominent clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and AS Monaco. However, he visited Arsenal's training ground recently and, after family discussions, made his decision.
As Upson's contract with Tottenham has ended, Arsenal is now required to negotiate a training compensation fee with Spurs for the transfer to be fully completed. Upson was a key player for Tottenham's academy, featuring regularly in their UEFA Youth League and U18 Premier League campaigns during the 2025/26 season. He also represented England at youth international level.
